Römerturm Bendorf

ROMAN TOWER ON THE LIMES UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE

FANTASTIC VIEWS FOR HIKERS AND WALKERS

A unique Limes adventure area was created at the beginning of the 20th century on the Pulverberg in Bendorf-Sayn, at the intersection of the Rheinsteig and Saynsteig hiking trails. At that time, the listed reconstruction of a Roman watchtower with rampart and palisades was built from 1912, and the “Loeschcke-Ruhe”, named after the route commissioner of the Imperial Limes Commission, is a quarry stone lookout point along the course of the Limes.

The Roman Tower on the Limes UNESCO World Heritage in the Bendorf municipal forest is a popular destination for hikers and visitors interested in history.

After conquering the steep ascent on the well-tended hiking trails to the Römerturm, you will be rewarded with an inviting resting place and magnificent views all the way to the Siebengebirge mountain range. Walkers can also reach the Roman tower via a wide, well-maintained forest path from the Waldgasthof Meisenhof in just 15 minutes.

Trained Limes Cicerones will guide you on exciting scenic tours and walks based on the Limes and the Romans for all age groups, making the fables of the Roman past and the Limes come alive.

You are welcome to borrow the key by appointment at the tourist information office if you would like to climb the tower to enjoy the magnificent view.
